SPN fic recs, week 13, Possessions and going evil (Halloween again)

Theme: Under the Influence! Possessions and going evil! Reposting of my recs from spngenlove week 13. [First day of posting] and [the 'under the influence' tag].

I had thought that my previous set of recs exhausted the Halloween-y fics I've read in this fandom, but evidently not. There's an absolutely ridiculous number of fics here. (New challenge to self: be roughly this prolific in reccing things in other fandoms too.) I'd say half-ish of these are on-theme, possibly more if you include the stories involving ghosts. Some of these I really don't want to spoil the reveal, so my comments+author's summary might not be enough to specify which story they are. In those cases, I've included a 'the one where' bit, where I roughly summarise the story's key points for myself. If you adore fic spoilers, feel free to read them.

Reccer's Comments: Sam is not willing to let Dean be taken to Hell.
Spoilers: This is the one where Sam ends up breaking reality, and as long as Dean stays near Sam, he doesn't notice. But then Dean goes for a walk and finds the unraveling edges of the constructed reality.

Summary: The one with the hellhound.
Reccer's Comments: A lovely bit of writing by rahmi. Sam keeps the hellhound that kills Dean. He names it Bon Jovi. When Dean comes back he's possibly more startled by the latter than the former.

Reccer's Comments: Cross-over with Sports Night (it's funny without knowing SN but even funnier if you do). Fast-paced, really funny banter (I *love* Natalie in this), and a possessed office chair.
Reccer's Caveats: The authors say "Dan/Casey, implied Sam/Dean", but I read it as gen.

Reccer's Comments: The daughter of a sheriff (who had a run-in with the Impala once) tells her friends the story of a ghost car and those who drive it.
Spoilers: The one where the boys die in the car and still help people in the local area. But are confident that John will eventually come for them.

Reccer's Comments: I absolutely love this version of after the apocalypse. It's lovely and lyrical, with little details that flesh out the story's reality.

Title: Somatic

Warnings/Spoilers: Possibly for Nightmare, although it’s more conceptual than plot-oriented.
Summary: Sam, on a bad day and from the outside.
Reccer's Comments: A slightly tricky story with an OPOV narrator. It's great watching the narrator (who's a cop) watch and asses Sam.
Spoilers: The one where the cop is a ghost that's been haunting a place and didn't realise he was dead. Sam's injured and needs to wait until sun-up to be able to leave the place. After sun-up the ghost!cop helps Dean drive Sam to the hospital (and realises he's a ghost). The boys make a report of a mugging or something to a local cop (who's the son of the ghost!cop, which makes ghost!cop happy).

Title: If Today Was Not an Endless Highway

Summary: "He doesn’t talk."
Reccer's Comments: Bit of an outsider POV going on here, which allows for a great slow reveal. And also means that we're not given all the answers (as the narrator never gets them either, but we do have more of an idea of what's going on than the narrator), which I think suits this story well. I love the feel and the tone of this story.
Spoilers: The one where the OC picks up Dean on the side of the road and he says he's Sam. It's a deal-related fic, even though we never find out what he did or how he got out. At the end of the story he leaves a note and goes away. Presumably in search of Sam.

Title: Occupational Hazards

Warnings/Spoilers: Spoilers for 'No Rest for the Wicked', the third-season finale.
Summary: Okay, so Jared's possessed by Sam. That's a problem.
Reccer's Comments: a cross-over between SPN and SPN RPF :) The cross-over is handled well-- I loved watching Sam and Jensen react to each other. I like how the rules of our reality bend just slightly to accommodate Sam. Not crack.

Reccer's Comments: This is a hysterical story. I love the scene where Sam and Dean are arguing with each other in Latin (and Sam's friend is sitting there going O.O).

Summary: AU following "In My Time of Dying", in which things go very, very wrong. Okay, even more wrong.
Reccer's Comments: Far-future!fic. I know the warnings include character death, but I found this story to be very, perhaps not happy, but certainly satisfying. I don't want to give too many details about the fic for fear of spoiling the reveal, which I found to be very well done.
Spoilers: The one where Dean is a ghost haunting (not in a bad way! In a flirting with the nurses and circling suspicious obits sort of way!) a hospital and Sam comes by and talks with him every year on the anniversary of his death. And then one year he dies there and Dean no longer haunts the place.
